Three boys who were the focus of a multi-state Amber Alert were located in Maine after disappearing during a weekend visit with their mother.
Connecticut police issued the amber alert on Tuesday roughly one hour before announcing that the boys had been located.
The alert was issued after Jackie Morris, a 32-year-old woman with ties to Massachusetts and Maine, did not return her sons to their biological father after a weekend visit. Morris had visitation rights with the boys—9-year-old Ryan, 7-year-old Dylan, and 7-year-old Brandon—but they lived with their father in Vernon, Connecticut.
The Associated Press reported that the mother had a history of mental health issues and may be living out of her car. When they announced the amber alert, police said they were concerned for the boys’ safety.
There is no information yet on whether the mother was with the boys when they were found.
