The MBTA has released dramatic video footage of a woman who on Tuesday accidentally fell onto the Orange Line subway train tracks at the Back Bay Station.
The video shows the woman, 44, seemingly walking obliviously toward the edge of the platform before she took that fateful final step off, plunging about five feet down onto the tracks.
In a matter of seconds, her fellow passengers converged on the edge of the platform before some jumped down to help the woman, who was lying on her back helplessly.
The entire episode took about 15 seconds from the moment she fell, but it likely seemed like an eternity for her.
The woman narrowly avoided the high voltage third rail that can be deadly to the touch.
According to The Boston Globe, the woman was taken to Tufts Medical Center for pain on the right side of her body.
