Say what you will about alleged criminals: sometimes they make it easy for you.
A 30-year-old driver was cited in Springfield for alleged operation under the influence of drugs, failure to obey a stop sign, and failure to wear a seat belt after coolly admitting to officers he was smoking pot while driving.
The Associated Press reports an officer was allegedly “covered in a plume of smoke” after Ricky Allende of Springfield rolled down his window for a traffic stop just before 8 p.m. Tuesday night.
[Springfield Police] Sgt. John Delaney says the officer asked: "Are you smoking marijuana while operating this motor vehicle?" The driver allegedly responded: "Why, yes, I am, officer."
Allende also faced charges related to an outstanding warrant for other moving violations that are unspecified in the Springfield arrest log.
