A former state employee was indicted today for allegedly distributing child pornography, Attorney General Martha Coakley’s Office announced today.

Andrew Fanguiaire, 48, of Weymouth, faces four counts of possession of child pornography and four counts of dissemination of child pornography. Fanguiaire is a former employee of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT).

“This defendant allegedly accessed images and videos of child pornography from his home and at his workplace,” Coakley said in a statement. “We allege that he also distributed this disturbing content to others over the Internet.”

The investigation into Fanguiaire began after State Police received information from a MassDOT information security officer that a network computer may have been used to access inappropriate material. Fanguiaire was arrested on Jan. 8 and State Police executed search warrants on his work office and home.

Fanguiaire appeared in Quincy District Court the next day where he pleaded not guilty and a judge set bail at $5,000. He was also ordered to stay away from children under 18, and to stay away from parks, schools, and other places where children gather.

Fanguiaire will be arraigned in Norfolk Superior Court on June 19.
