The State Department of Public Utilities has reportedly revoked the bus driver certificate of an MBTA operator whose bus crashed into the guard rail of a Mass Pike overpass Sunday, May 18.

Shanna Shaw, 42, also had her driver’s license revoked Wednesday morning after the state’s Registry of Motor Vehicles found she posed an “immediate threat to public safety.”

The Mattapan resident was also suspended without pay by the MBTA.

Shaw allegedly told police the accident was caused by a sneezing fit, though police said there is evidence—including surveillance footage—showing the 18-year MBTA veteran operating a cell phone behind the wheel.

The Boston Globe reports Shaw has been in at least three at-fault accidents and has been cited for speeding, seat-belt violations, improper passing, and failure to stop over the past ten years.
