During an appearance on WGBH’s Boston Public Radio on Friday, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said that 1500 letters are being sent to city homeowners in regard to alleged safety code violations.
Walsh stated: “Next week there are 1500 letters going out to homeowners who have the worst violations.”
Melina Schuler, a press representative for the mayor’s office told Boston.com that Walsh’s office is “working on IDing problem properties.” Schuler would not comment on the nature of the letters or their details at this time.
Walsh’s announcement came weeks after the Boston Globe’s Spotlight Team published “Shadow Campus,” a series detailing alleged safety-code violations and deplorable student housing conditions resulting from negligent city landlords and homeowners.Shannon McMahon can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
