A 14-year-old Wakefield runaway was found in Chelsea on Wednesday, according to Wakefield Police.
Police said Rosalinda Chavez ran away from a Department of Children and Families program in town on March 7. The girls group home Lafayette House reported Chavez did not return from Everett High School that day, according to a missing child poster released by Wakefield Police in March.
Wakefield Police found Chavez in a Chelsea apartment in the city and took Chavez into custody. She was in good health and eventually turned over to DCF, according to Wakefield Police.
“[Wakefield Police] Detective Sergeant DiNanno went above and beyond the call of duty here, pursuing leads, and using the latest technological resources to locate this missing child,” Wakefield Police Chief Rick Smith said in a statement released Thursday night. “These cases can be tedious and cumbersome, but this investigator saw a child who could be in danger, and he would not relent until she was found.”
