Calling All Green Thumbs: Boston’s Urban Garden Contest Is Here

Do you have a garden? Live in Boston? If yes, then you should probably enter Mayor Walsh’s Garden Contest.

Launched as part of the Mayor’s citywide beautification initiative, according to the City of Boston website, the contest will celebrate gardeners who are helping to spruce up Boston’s neighborhoods (plant pun intended).

Applicants can enter photos of their gardens in up to nine different categories, including “Small Yard Garden,” “Community Garden,” or “Senior Garden Category (65+).”

First place winners in each of the categories will receive a “Golden Trowel” award from Mayor Walsh and a prize package from the Parks Department and event sponsors.

All finalists will be entered into a drawing for the grand prize: four roundtrip flights to any nonstop destination from Boston, presented by JetBlue.

You can submit your entry or nominate your favorite gardener here. The deadline for entry is July 11.
