An 18-year-old man was seriously injured after jumping off a bridge at Carson Beach Sunday evening.

The teen suffered head and neck injuries after ignoring warnings from bystanders and diving off the bridge with friends near Bayside Expo Center. According to WCVB-TV, there are signs on the bridge thay say diving is not allowed. The waters beneath him are known to be shallow and contain large rocks.

Witnesses say the teen was conscious after being pulled out of the water but he told rescuers he could not feel his legs, The Boston Globe reports. He was rushed to Boston Medical Center, WCVB-TV reports.
