Police officers searched the area near an elementary school in Sherborn this afternoon after a report of a man with a gun, NECN reports.

A heavy police presence remained at the school Wednesday afternoon, but after the area was checked and cleared, children were released to parents.

Pine Hill Elementary School immediately went into a lockdown after the incident at 12:44 p.m. today, The Boston Globe reports.

All of the school’s approximately 400 students, who are between pre-kindergarten and fifth grade, are currently safe and accounted for, school officials said.

Two students reported seeing a man walking in the woods next to the school with a gun, according to the Globe report.

The Massachusetts State Police said in a tweet that the air wing assisted in the search. A K-9 unit from the Natick Police Department was also on the scene, Fox 25 reports.
