9 Indicted in Framingham Drug Trafficking Operation

Nine people have been indicted in connection with a major drug trafficking ring that was operating out of Framingham, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced today.

The individuals face a variety of charges including trafficking cocaine, money laundering, possession of a firearm, and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

Authorities began their investigation into the operation after receiving information about a Framingham-based crack cocaine ring, according to a statement from the Middlesex DA’s office. Authorities then obtained wiretap warrants to monitor phone calls, which led them to identify members of the organization and cocaine distributors.

On April 18, State Police arrested Christine Williams, 23, of Framingham and found more than 240 grams of cocaine on her and hidden in a child’s car seat. Williams was charged with trafficking cocaine and bail was set at $10,000. Bail was later posted on her behalf.

Prosecutors believe the $10,000 bail posted was actually drug money from other members of the cocaine ring. On May 1, law enforcement officials executed more than a dozen warrants in Framingham, Marlborough, Natick, Dorchester, Roxbury, Allston, and Worcester, which led to the arrests. Authorities also seized more than 1,400 grams of cocaine, four illegal firearms, more than one hundred rounds of ammunition, numerous vehicles, and thousands of dollars in cash.

“This investigation, which started in the streets of Framingham, has now exposed major drug traffickers, and has taken a huge volume of illegal drugs and dangerous weapons out of the hands of criminals and off our streets,” Ryan said in a statement. “We will continue to do what we can to help people in the throes of drug addiction to regain control of their lives, but we will not tolerate criminal drug traffickers who attempt to profit from the misery of others.”
