The Boston Pops Orchestra started off their busy week with a surprise for travelers coming through Boston’s Logan Airport.
The Pops performed a pop-up concert at Terminal B on Monday morning as part of the lead up for their annual concert at Boston’s Fourth of July celebration on Friday.
A group of 10 Pops musicians and conductor Keith Lockhart will be touring various locations throughout New England to get people excited for the Independence Day concert. In addition to performing at Logan, they have pop-up concerts scheduled in Stamford, Connecticut and New York City later today, as well as a show at Fenway Park before the Red Sox play on Friday.
The series of concerts coincides with a social media contest that gives entrants the chance to win a night in 2015 as conductor of the Pops. Anyone who sends out a message on Twitter between June 29 and July 4 with the hashtag “#WatchThePops” will be entered to win. The prize will include travel and lodging for those who enter from outside of Boston.
If you can’t catch any of the pop-up shows or be at the big celebration in person on Friday, don’t worry! This year’s Fourth of July concert will be streamed live online for the first time in its history.
