10 Homeless After Two-Alarm Fire in Mission Hill

Boston Police and fire are responding to an apparent building fire at 27 Wigglesworth Street, near Longwood and Mission Hill, off of Huntington Avenue.

The Boston Fire Department reported responding to the roof fire at 10:05 p.m. Monday. Firefighters could see the flames as they arrived. A second alarm was sounded. The fire had spread from the roof deck to an apartment below before firefighters got control of the blaze.

By 10:50 p.m., firefighters had the main fire out and were checking for an extensions inside of walls or ceilings, according to the department. There were no reported injuries.

The Fire Department estimated the damage at $500,000. Ten people were displaced from six apartments.

Several people reported hearing an explosion in the area.
