There’s bad weather coming in two directions over the next few days, and event organizers have moved the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular to July 3. Officials said moving the event up a day gave them the best chance, weather-wise, to hold both the concert and the fireworks display.
So Thursday’s the best day for fireworks, right?
Maybe not. Several Massachusetts communities are moving their displays from Thursday.
Danvers decided to move their fireworks a day, too. But they’re moving from Thursday to Saturday.
Other Massachusetts towns are also doing the opposite of Boston, are moving away from Thursday fireworks displays, including Worcester,Rutland, Webster, Northridge, Milford and Fitchburg. In Rhode Island, Providence, East Providence and Warwick are all abandoning Thursday fireworks displays, rescheduling to Saturday.
Dracut’s taking no chances on the coming weekend. The town will postpone its fireworks display by neary two months. A town offiical told the Lowell Sun the new date August 28 date was more of an “End-of-Summer show.”
Fox25 has a running tally of rescheduled fireworks displays, too.
