Watch: USS Constitution Ventures Out for July 4th Turnaround

Not even the approach of Hurricane Arthur could halt this Fourth of July tradition.

The USS Constitution, the oldest commissioned warship still afloat, went out for her annual Independence Day tour Friday—but the ship will not take part in the ceremony again until 2018, as it is scheduled for resoration work beginning early next year.

According to CBS Boston, ‘Old Ironsides’ fired a 21-gun salute near Castle Island, and then a 17-gun salute near US Coast Guard Base Boston, before heading back to its berth in Charlestown. Along with the captain and crew, 150 lottery winners and their guests were aboard.
