District Fire Chief Kevin Brooks says the accident occurred Thursday after the out-of-state truck driver got lost and wound up in the city’s congested Beacon Hill neighborhood.

Brooks says a police officer was trying to guide the truck out of the narrow streets when the brakes apparently lost air pressure.

The Boston Fire Department said via Twitter that they responded to the scene at Walnut and Beacon streets at 11:48 a.m. No one was injured and the driver stayed at the scene to speak with police, according to the fire department.

Boston firefighters worked to stabilize the vehicle this afternoon as the fuel tanks were unloaded. The fire department said the truck would be towed from the Common.

Images from the scene showed the truck blocking the entire width of Beacon Street.
