Massachusetts State Police told WCVB that the body of a 59-year-old man who was reported missing by his family was found two miles off of Marblehead Harbor in waters estimated to be between 50 and 60 feet deep.

He was described by the US Coast Guard as being “overdue” Tuesday morning, which prompted the four-and-a-half hour search. The diver’s boat was anchored nearby, reported The Salem News.

The searchers, including a helicopter and a boat and rescue crew, were reportedly looking for the missing diver behind Children’s Island near Satan’s Rock.

The Marblehead Police Department posted on its Facebook page that “Salem Harbormasters, Beverly Fire Department Dive Rescue, USCG and the MA Environmental Police are all responding to the area” and emergency personnel are situated at State Street Landing in Marblehead.
