A Barnstable girl, 6, was MedFlighted to Tufts Medical Center today with “serious but not life-threatening” injuries after she was hit by a car. Firefighters responded to the scene on Bracken Fern Road in Marstons Mills around 10 a.m. on Monday.

The girl suffered lacerations and abrasions to her legs and forehead from the incident, which knocked her to the ground and possibly underneath the vehicle, Barnstable police Sgt. Sean Sweeney told The Cape Cod Times.

The situation has reportedly been deemed an accident and no charges are expected for the driver. The Cape Cod Times’ report also stated that the girl was flown to the hospital because of her head injury despite being conscious with one hand pressed to her head as she was boarded onto the medical helicopter.
