The pedestrian involved in a collision with a vehicle on Memorial Drive Tuesday has died, according to state police.
Now being identified as a 50-year-old Boston man, the victim was struck by a 2008 Honda Accord driven by a 24-year-old man from Brighton at approximately 7 a.m. The victim was transported to Mass General Hospital and was later pronounced dead.
Police are still investigating why the pedestrian was in the roadway when the incident took place. The names of both the driver and the victim are being withheld as the investigation continues.
The accident closed down the eastbound side of Memorial Drive near the Massachusetts Avenue bridge for approximately two hours as authorities examined the scene.
Multiple media outlets were at the scene Tuesday morning capturing images of the incident and the investigation.
