The National Weather Service declared a tornado warning for eastern Worcester and western Middlesex counties at 8:24 p.m., only to cancel the warning 25 minutes later as rotation in the storm system subsided. A flash flood warning for Worcester county was cancelled by 9:10 p.m..
A flood advisory was issued for Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex and Middlesex counties through 11:15 p.m.. The advisory warned of “minor urban and small stream flooding” for Boston, Cambridge, and several nearby cities and towns.
By 10:30 p.m., State Police closed three lanes of Rt. 128 South in Burlington due to flooding on the roadway.
The storms caused delays at airports and led to reported injuries in New York City on Sunday. The storms also forced concert goers to abandon the Made in America festival in Philadelphia.
