List of gay marriages registered with the state, by residence

Since May 17, when the state's landmark gay marriage decision took effect, local city and town clerks have submitted 12,600 public marriage certificates with the state Registry of Vital Records and Statistics. Of those, approximately 2,980 were for same-sex couples. (Since Jan. 1, 31,039 certificates have been filed with the state and 17,200 have been processed.)

Following is a list of the number of in-state couples who got married, broken down by where they live. This does not reflect all marriages performed since May 17, because city and town clerks have two months and 10 days from the date of marriage to send the certificate into the state. It also does not include any marriages involving people who are born out of wedlock since those are not considered public documents under state law.

According to unofficial tracking data compiled by the Registry of Vital Records, 4,266 gay marriage certificates have been sent to the state but not all have been reviewed and recorded. The Associated Press review is based upon official public marriage certificates recorded since May 17.
