State police post "Most Wanted" sex offender list online

BOSTON --The state Sex Offender Registry Board and the state police have posted information about the 12 "most wanted" sex offenders on a new Web site.

The twelve men posted on the Web site -- called "the worst of the worst" -- are all wanted by the State Police Fugitive Section for violating the state's registration and notification law.

The twelve Level 3 offenders have accounted for 34 individual convictions of rape, 29 of which were for rape of a child. More than 20 convictions were for indecent assault and battery on a child.

The Sex Offender Registry Board has classified more than 8,000 sex offenders in recent years, 1,200 of whom are classified as Level 3, or the most likely to re-offend.
