Reports: 'Average Joe' bank robber suspect arrested

A man police have been seeking in connection with the investigation into a dozen recent eastern Massachusetts bank robberies was arrested this afternoon on Concord Street in Boston's Charlestown neighborhood.
The suspect, who has been dubbed by the media as the "Average Joe" bank robber, has been identified by authorities as Joseph Hart of Somerville.
The Boston Globe has learned Hart's girlfriend, Jennifer Sheehan, was also arrested. Both are scheduled to be arraigned in court tomorrow.
The rash of bank robberies under investigation began in late September.
The latest of the series was Monday afternoon at the Cambridge Savings Bank on Highland avenue in Somerville.
The first of the series was Sept. 26 in Cambridge.
Robberies being investigated in connection with the case also took place at banks in Winchester, Arlington, Lincoln, Wakefield, Belmont, Andover, Medford, Danvers, and Littleton.
A special police task force made up of local, state, and federal officers had been established in connection with the investigation. Only Tuesday the task force officers had met in Winchester to compare data they had gathered.
Police said the robberies netted any where from $700 to $2,400.
Photos of the suspect taken at the scene of some of the robberies by surveillance cameras have been widely published and shown in an effort to try and identify the man.
There have been no injuries reported in connection with any of the
dozen robberies.![]()
