A longtime teacher at Maynard High School pleaded not guilty this morning to charges of sexually assaulting a student.
Joseph Magno, 65, is being held on bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
Magno, a teacher at Maynard High for more than four decades and an advisor to the school's radio and television station, was arraigned this morning at Emerson Hospital in Concord, where he has been since Friday night, being treated for unspecified medical problems.
Magno has been charged with sexual assault on a 17-year-old male. The teen, a senior at the high school, alleges the assaults happened while he was in eighth through 10th grades, sometimes on school grounds and sometimes in Magno's car and other locations.
He was also ordered to have no contact with witnesses or anyone under the age of 16.
