Chronology of alleged abuse case

1994

Haleigh Poutre born on Feb. 24.

1998

Poutre goes to live with her aunt, Holli Strickland, after her biological mother was deemed by the state to be an unfit parent, a decision the biological mother disputes.

2001

Strickland adopts Haleigh as a single parent.

2002-05

State Department of Social Services receives 15 allegations of abuse or neglect, but only the last report is substantiated.

Sept. 11: Haleigh is taken to Noble Hospital in Westfield and is unresponsive and then is taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where she is diagnosed with a severe traumatic brain injury.

Sept. 20: Holli and Jason Strickland are arrested on assault charges in Haleigh's beating.

Sept. 22: Holli Strickland is found shot to death alongside her grandmother, Constance Young, in what police believe is a murder-suicide.

Sept. 26: Jason Strickland files a motion asking to be declared a ''de facto" parent.

Oct. 5: A judge issues an order allowing Haleigh's breathing and feeding tubes to be removed.

Dec. 6: Supreme Judicial Court hears lawyers for Strickland seeking to block the state from removing life support.

2006

Yesterday: the Supreme Judicial Court rules that the state can remove Haleigh Poutre from life support.
