Scotland Yard said this afternoon that Neil Entwistle is "still in custody pending extradition,'' likely meaning that he won't return from England to Massachusetts until tomorrow at the soonest to face charges of murdering his wife and 9-month-old daughter in their Hopkinton bed.
When he returns, Entwistle, 27, is expected to be booked on the two first-degree murder charges at the Hopkinton police station and then arraigned at Framingham District Court. He was arrested last Thursday in London and agreed a day later not to fight extradition.
Authorities allege that he shot Rachel Entwistle, 27, and Lillian, 9 months old, on Jan. 20 and left for London the next day. According to police affidavits released yesterday, the week of the shootings, he viewed websites that describe how to kill people and commit suicide and also looked for escort services.
Prosecutors theorize that Entwistle was so despondent about his financial and family situation that he planned a murder-suicide, but couldn't go through with killing himself.
