Police arrest seven in prostitution sting

Two people, including an undercover Boston police officer, were injured during prostitution stings Friday and yesterday around Blue Hill Avenue in Roxbury. The stings yielded seven arrests and an additional unrelated arrest for drugs, according to police.

''Complaints from people who were living in the neighborhood and police statistical information" triggered the operations, said Officer John Boyle, a police spokesman.

Police used undercover male and female officers to arrest Deion Kelow, 37, of Roxbury; Eaine Meca, who also goes by the name Marquis Meca, 19, of Roslindale; and Belinda Crawford, 54, Gary Paillant, 43, Ronney Moraldo, 41, and Ginel Louis, 47, all of Dorchester; and Antoine Clark, who also goes by the name Stephan Allen, 32, of Roxbury. Each suspect was charged with the solicitation of sex for a fee. Police said Clark faces other charges in connection with the injury of the undercover officer.

The officer was injured early yesterday morning. At approximately 6:15 a.m. on Blue Hill Avenue near Huckins Street, the officer approached Clark's Nissan Sentra. Police said Clark and an unidentified black male in the passenger seat offered the officer money in exchange for sex.

When the officer signaled that the men had made an offer, police approached the vehicle. Police said Clark put the vehicle in reverse and the passenger opened his door. The open door struck the undercover officer, knocking her to the ground, then hit the passenger and dragged him about 20 feet before knocking him into a light pole, police said.

According to police, Clark then turned onto Nonquit Street, a dead end, where he got out of the car and fled on foot before being apprehended by officers.

Police said they found about 29 grams of crack cocaine in 70 plastic bags in the car. Police said they also seized $1,317 in cash and four $20 bills that appeared to be counterfeit.

The injured suspect was treated at Boston Medical Center; the injured officer was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital where she was treated and released.

Clark was charged with trafficking class B drugs in a school zone, two counts of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon (motor vehicle), two counts of leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury, operating a motor vehicle without a license, soliciting sex for a fee, driving to endanger, and possession of counterfeit notes. The passenger, whom police would not identify because he had not been arrested, will be summoned to Roxbury District Court for solicitation of sex for a fee, police said.

On Friday morning, police arrested a man who was pulled over for allegedly speeding on Dudley Street. According to police, undercover officers were monitoring the area for prostitution when they saw a car drive past. After they pulled the vehicle over, officers smelled marijuana and arrested Evan Allison, 23, of Mattapan, after finding a small bag of the drug inside the car, police said. He was charged with possession of class D substance as well as motor vehicle violations.

Those arrested will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court this week.
