Sold their three-bedroom, 1,100-square-foot, house for $350,000. Bought a four-bedroom, 3,000-square-foot house with two-car garage in Dallas for $340,000.

Eileen Flaig says, ''We decided as a family that we could have a better lifestyle down here, that we couldn't afford in Massachusetts. We lived in Acton and we started off in a townhouse in Concord, but being first-time homeowners, it was almost impossible to find a home. We had what would definitely be a starter home in Massachusetts. It was a three-bedroom, one-bathroom home. No garage. That was all we could afford in the town we wanted because schools were a priority. . . . With two children, we were outgrowing it quickly. We moved down here and. . . . I went from three bedrooms to four, and now we have an office and formal rooms. . . . My husband's office no longer has to be in the bedroom. . . . Financially, it was a parallel move (he's a computer engineer) but as for size it was leaps and bounds more house. When we saw what we could get for our money, when we saw how friendly it was here, and when we saw the schools, we saw it was better to be down here."
