What we liked most: The friendly ease of owner Tony Clark and his staff, whether pointing the way to a hiking trail or setting out a plate of fresh Vermont farm cheese.
What we liked least: Changing diapers. But at least we got to sit down to rack of lamb afterward.
What surprised us: Such easy access to the rugged beauty of the Green Mountains -- try a morning run of the Goshen Gallop course.
You know you're at Blueberry Hill Inn when . . . you're stuffed full of fresh blueberries and it's 30 minutes before breakfast.
Rates: Weekends and holidays: double occupancy, $130-$170 per person. Weekdays: double occupancy, $110-130 per person. Rates include four-course gourmet dinner and full breakfast. Single occupancy rates also available. Children ages 5-12 half price in their parents' room; under 4 free.
Directions: About 170 miles or 3 1/2 hours from Boston. Take Interstate 93 north to I-89 north into Vermont to exit 3 (Bethel). Follow Route 107 west to Route 100 north, and just before Rochester turn left onto Route 73 west. After Brandon Gap, you see a state information sign for the inn. Turn right past the sign on to Hathaway Road. In about 1.3 miles, at a three-way junction , turn right onto Flora White Road. In 1.3 miles, at a four-way junction, turn right on to Goshen-Ripton Road.
