Man, boy shot outside store

Police are investigating the shooting of a 12-year-old boy and a 24-year-old man yesterday outside a South End convenience store. After the shooting at 12:12 a.m. on Massachusetts Avenue, neighborhood residents took the victims to Boston Medical Center, where they were treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said. No arrests had been made last night.

Police probe fatal shooting
Police are investigating the apparent shooting death of a man in Dorchester on Saturday. The unidentified male was pronounced dead at Boston Medical Center, where he was taken after suffering multiple gunshot wounds, said John Boyle, Boston police spokesman. Officers responded to Levant and Tebroc streets at 10:17 p.m. on a report of a person shot. If the death is confirmed a homicide, it would be the city's 34th of the year, police said.

Man, 28, stabbed outside T stop
A 28-year-old Hyde Park man was stabbed in the chest yesterday as he waited for a bus outside the Forest Hills T station on Hyde Park Avenue in Jamaica Plain, MBTA officials said. According to witnesses, the suspect, described as a 5-foot-10-inch black male between the ages of 18 and 25 with a goatee, tried to grab a chain from the victim's neck about 8:10 p.m. and then stabbed the victim, who was trying to run away. The suspect fled the scene, and the victim, whose name was not released , walked into the station and sought help from a customer service agent, police said. He was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital for treatment of a serious stab wound. MBTA police are investigating the attack.

Child, 9, critical after crash
A 9-year-old child was in critical condition and two people were treated for minor injuries following an accident that occurred in Roslindale yesterday at about 7:12 p.m., police said. Witnesses told police a Jeep collided head-on with a Honda at Cornell Street and Roslindale Avenue. The female operator of the Honda and a 5-year-old passenger were taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital, police said. The Boston Fire Department extricated a 9-year-old passenger from the Honda, and the child was taken to Children's Hospital, police said. The driver of the Jeep, who was the sole occupant, was uninjured. The identities of those involved were not released last night. The crash is under investigation, police said.

Student reported missing
Norton police are looking for a University of Massachusetts at Lowell student who disappeared a week ago, shortly after he returned home for the summer. Janet Eckstrom last heard from her son Andrew, 24, when he left for work on June 19.

DARTMOUTH

One killed in I-195 accident
One person was killed and two were injured in a two-car crash on Interstate 195 westbound in Dartmouth at about 3:15 a.m. yesterday, State Police said. Police said a 1994 Nissan driven by Andrew Tix , 23, of New Bedford, was traveling west when his sedan struck the left guardrail and came to rest in the right travel lane. Tix's vehicle was then struck by a 1995 BMW sedan driven by Jorge M. Santos , 20, of Dartmouth. Tix, whose vehicle burst into flames, was found outside the vehicle and transported to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with serious injuries, police said. His passenger, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Santos sustained minor injuries and was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford. The cause of the crash is under investigation, State Police said.
