Plans include a game screening in City Hall Plaza

The City of Boston plans to celebrate the World Cup final game this Sunday at City Hall Plaza.

Mayor Thomas M. Menino announced plans to celebrate the culmination of the month-long tournament today. The game between Italy and France, starting at 2 p.m., will be shown on a large television screen viewable from the Cambridge Street side of the Plaza.

Before the game, fans will have opportunities to meet New England Revolution coaches and players, Patriots cheerleaders, and two Patriots mascots. There will also be elements of the New England Revolution’s Soccer Celebration including a “Soccer Kick” and “Moon Bounce” as well as raffles and prizes.

Attendees are encouraged to take public transportation to and from the celebration as many of the nearby streets will have parking bans in effect.
