The faster a stroke patient receives medical treatment, the greater the chances for survival, and survival without significant disability. The warning signs of a stroke include sudden:

- Numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side.

- Confusion and trouble with speaking or understanding.

- Trouble seeing in one or both eyes.

- Problems with walking, dizziness, loss of balance, or coordination.

- Severe headache with no known cause.
