Airlines allow changes without financial penalties due to storm

Because of the snowstorm, major US airlines are allowing passengers to cancel and reschedule flights from Logan International Airport and many other Northeastern airports without financial penalties. Here is a look at several leading airlines' policies:

AirTran Airways: Passengers holding reservations for flights yesterday through Monday may change the departure date without penalty as long as they choose a new flight within three days of their original departure. Passengers can cancel flights outright without penalty and keep a financial credit usable for a year from the original date of ticket purchase. Information at airtran.com or call 800-AIR-TRAN.

Continental Airlines: Passengers holding reservations for yesterday or today may reschedule without penalty to a flight leaving on or before next Friday. Information at Continental.com or call 800-525-0280.

Delta Air Lines: Passengers who bought tickets before Thursday night scheduled to travel now through today in the Northeast may make one ticket change without penalty between now and the end of the day Tuesday, but will have to pay any difference in fare. Customers on canceled flights may request full refunds. Information at Delta.com/TravelUpdates or call 800-325-1999.

JetBlue Airways: Passengers with reservations for travel to, from, or through New England and New York airports and Dulles International Airport now through tomorrow may postpone travel without paying fees or fare differences if they rebook for travel between Tuesday and April 30. Information at JetBlue.com or call 800-538-2583.

United Airlines: Passengers holding tickets bought before Thursday night for travel to, from, or through New England and mid-Atlantic airports now through tomorrow may make one rescheduling change without paying fees or fares but may have to pay a higher fare if they choose a new itinerary or a flight with different booking-code restrictions. Passengers on flights that were canceled may apply for a full refund. All changes must be made by midnight on the original planned day of travel. Information at United.com or call 800-864-8331.

US Airways: Passengers holding reservations for flights to, from, or through most airports north and east of Washington, D.C., and Pittsburgh between 4:30 p.m. Thursday and 11:30 p.m. yesterday may reschedule flights without paying the standard change fee and without regard to the normal advanced-reservation requirements. Information at USAirways.com or call 800-428-4322. Passengers may also move the entire itinerary forward by up to seven days, although they can't change the length of the trip in days, and may apply the ticket price to a flight to another destination as long as they leave within seven days of the original departure date on the original ticket.
