Donation creates diabetes center

Jay Agarwal of Concord has donated $250,000 to establish the Elizabeth Smith Agarwal Diabetes Center, which will be part of the Center for Specialty Care that Emerson Hospital is building on Baker Avenue in Concord. Agarwal, whose late wife had been treated for diabetes at Emerson, is a consultant to major corporations on metals, minerals, and energy matters.

New bank manager

Linda Firth recently was named branch manager of RiverBank's Shawsheen office at 342 North Main St. in Andover. Previously, Firth had been a TD Banknorth assistant vice president of business development and sales. She lives in Methuen.

Historic bike tours

A Concord resident and preschool teacher, Sue Merlino, has launched a venture, Concord Bike Tours, which schedules trips to historic places in Concord and Carlisle.
