Help for Gloucester fire victims

"The Gloucester Fund" is accepting contributions to help victims of the massive fire on December 14, 2007, in downtown Gloucester. People are asked to include a note, indicating if their donation is to help the more than 20 people left homeless when the Lorraine Apartments burned or to aid Temple Ahavat Achim, a synagogue also destroyed in the eight-alarm fire. Contributions can be sent to The Gloucester Fund, 45 Middle St., Gloucester, MA, 01930.

The American Red Cross of Northeast Massachusetts is assisting victims of the Saturday fire that destroyed an apartment house in downtown Gloucester. The agency wants to reach as many victims as possible to help them find new housing, clothes and food. On Sunday, victims in need are asked to call the emergency pager line, 978-622-3254. The Red Cross will be available on Monday,12/18 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at The Fuller School, 4 School House Rd. to assist victims.

On Sunday, victims who need clothes and food may visit a homeless shelter run by Action Inc cq. at at 370 Main St., Gloucester. Shelter will be open all day.
