Winter storm pounds Massachusetts

December 16, 2007

BOSTON—A weekend nor'easter is pounding Massachusetts, bringing snow, winds and freezing rain to the region for the second time in a week.

Dozens of car accidents, most of them minor, have already been blamed on the slippery roads and whiteout conditions.

Logan Airport was not experiencing delays, but officials urged travelers to check with their airlines.

The snow is expected to continue before changing over to rain and freezing rain. Plows and sanders were out early trying to keep the roads clear.

A winter storm warning will remain in effect until 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Snow accumulation will be between 5 and 8 inches in the Boston area, with more falling in Northern Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
