WORCESTER, Mass.—A fast-moving fire that destroyed one building and heavily damaged another in Worcester last week has been ruled arson.
The state fire marshal's office is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the January 23 blaze on Lancaster Street that injured one firefighter and forced several residents into the early morning cold.
Captain William Metterville says investigators determined that someone broke into a vacant triple-decker shortly before the three-alarm blaze started.
