Mass. groundhog sees shadow, too

Don’t put the mittens away yet, we’ve still got six more weeks of winter, according to Massachusetts’ not-quite-official groundhog.

Ms. G, resident groundhog at the Massachusetts Audubon Society’s Drumlin Farm, made the prediction just after 10 a.m. today before a crowd of more than 50 people.

“It was very clear she saw her shadow,” said Karen Stein, a manager at the farm.

Lawmakers have nominated Ms. G to be the first official groundhog of the Commonwealth. If approved, she would be the first female groundhog in the state to hold such a title.

However, gender didn’t appear to make a difference in the predictions. The Associated Press reported that Punxsutawney Phil also cast a shadow this morning in Pennsylvania, while his Georgia counterpart, Gen. Beauregard Lee, predicted that spring is right around the corner.

Perhaps it's a red state, blue state thing?
