GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.—Kevin Bacon will be honored at this year's Berkshire International Film Festival.

Festival executive director Kelley Vickery says Bacon will receive the Achievement in Film Award on May 16 during a presentation at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center.

Vickery says his selection is consistent with the festival's goal of honoring someone with strong ties to the community. Bacon has a home in northwest Connecticut.

Bacon made his film debut in "Animal House" in 1978 and received a Golden Globe nomination in 1994 for his work in "The River Wild." He has appeared in 60 films during a 30-year career, including "Footloose," "Apollo 13," "A Few Good Men," and "Mystic River."

Last year's honoree was director Arthur Penn, a Stockbridge resident.
