The former husband of a woman who was killed in her Medfield home last week is wanted on murder charges in connection with her death.

Authorities said Andrew L. Boisvert, a 37-year-old emergency medical technician from Bridgewater, is on the run and is believed to be armed and dangerous. He is also believed to be driving his lawyer's black 1998 Jeep Wrangler, they said.

"He's a fugitive. He may be armed. Be careful," Norfolk District Attorney William R. Keating said in an interview.

Margaret Ninos, a 47-year-old labor and delivery nurse at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, was found dead in her home Wednesday. She and Boisvert have a 7-year-old daughter who was in the area of the home when Boisvert placed a 911 call, police said.

Ninos died of injuries to her head caused by blunt force trauma, police said.

"It was an extremely violent attack," Keating said.

Boisvert contacted police on Wednesday at 7:04 p.m. There were no signs of forced entry. After police arrived, neighbors said, Boisvert was outside sitting near the driveway as officers went in and out of the house and placed crime tape around the area and a blanket over his shoulders.

Keating said "a whole stream of evidence that progressed" led them to suspect Boisvert, but he declined to detail what their investigation found and how it led to Boisvert.

Police questioned Boisvert on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. He was last seen Thursday evening in Bridgewater.

A warrant for his arrest was issued late Friday. Authorities think he fled in his lawyer's car, which has a Massachusetts license plate, 781-KL0.

His lawyer, William Scannell, loaned him the car, but police declined to elaborate on how Scannell is involved.

"They were known to each other; they did have a relationship," Keating said. "But I'm cautious to get into it too much because it might be an avenue we explore later."

Scannell could not be reached for comment.

Boisvert is a 5-foot-5-inch, 180-pound man with brown eyes and brown hair. He could be wearing eyeglasses and may have a cut on his head.

Police issued warnings yesterday saying that Boisvert was carrying at least one gun and that anyone who sees him should contact police immediately and not approach him.

Neighbors told the Globe last week that they were shocked over the slaying.

The town's last homicide was more than a decade ago.

The police investigation determined that Boisvert has a history of violence, although there were no incidents that resulted in criminal charges. He was also previously abusive toward the victim, Keating said.

Ninos was a single mother who since 1988 worked in the labor and delivery department at Beth Israel.

She had been dating a man for about a year, according to neighbors, but police have declined to comment on that man or the relationship.

Ninos purchased the house in Medfield in 2005, according to town assessing records.
