BOSTON—A student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology has died after apparently falling from the fifth floor of his fraternity house.

Police say they were called to 526 Beacon St. in Boston at about 5:45 on Saturday morning, where they found the victim on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled.

MIT in a statement identified the student as Robert M. Wells, a senior in the school's brain and cognitive sciences department.

The address across the Charles River from MIT's Cambridge campus is the headquarters of the university's Delta Upsilon fraternity. According to the chapter's website, Wells is from Ballston Spa, N.Y.

Boston police are investigating.
