DEDHAM, Mass.—A Boston man has been found dead in the bath tub of an apartment where officers tried to serve him with warrants on charges of rape, kidnapping and assault and battery.

The Norfolk District Attorney's office says 25-year-old Carlos Hernandez was found dead Tuesday night after officers who had tried to get him to surrender peacefully noticed water running from the apartment. They located him using a camera. No one else was believed to be inside.

The district attorney said Hernandez was wanted in connection with a New Years Eve 2005 attack on a woman he allegedly coaxed into his car. He was indicted by a Suffolk Grand Jury last July. The prosecutor said DNA linked Hernandez to the case.

The state medical examiner will determine how he died.
