BOSTON—No snow in the forecast, but a nasty weather system has prompted warnings about high winds, thunderstorms and possible flooding in the region.

The National Weather Service said a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds was expected to move through southeastern Massachusetts Wednesday morning.

The weather service posted a wind advisory through 2 p.m. Wednesday for much of southern New England. Forecasters say wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph are possible during the midday hours.

A flood warning is in effect through Thursday in Berkshire County. Forecasters warn that heavy rainfall combined with snow melt could lead to flooding in urban areas and small streams.

A flood watch is in effect for other portions of central and western Massachusetts.
