BARNSTABLE, Mass.—Police say five people have been arrested in a Molotov cocktail attack that targeted a room where two young children were sleeping.

The firebomb was thrown through a window, sparking a fire that destroyed a Hyannis duplex early Thursday. The 3-year-old and 6-month-old were rescued and no one was hurt.

State Trooper Michael Peters said four men and a woman were in custody Thursday night at the state police barracks in Medford on charges of arson of a dwelling, attempted murder and possession of a Molotov cocktail. They are to be arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Friday. The suspects were arrested in Malden.

Tenant Dennis Edwards told the Cape Cod Times he was sleeping when the explosive was tossed and a visiting friend screamed his name. The friend, Michaela Salvodori, saved her infant daughter and Edwards' toddler son.
