WOBURN, Mass.—A man accused of killing his wife and infant daughter in their Hopkinton home has had his request for money to hire a jury selection expert denied by a judge.

Superior Court Judge Diane Kottmyer said in her decision that Neil Entwistle's lawyers failed to prove they needed money for the expert.

Entwistle is accused of killing his wife, Rachel, and their 9-month-old daughter, Lillian Rose, in January 2006.

The motion filed by Entwistle's lawyers was impounded, but Kottmyer's decision was not.

Entwistle's lawyers argue in the motion that they need the expert to weed out potential jurors biased by extensive publicity about the case.

Prosecutors allege Entwistle killed his family to hide deep debt, online business scams and sex. His trial is for June.
