BOSTON—Bags of ice distributed at certain Massachusetts retailers have been recalled because the ice may contain foreign substances.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health on Tuesday warned against consuming ice distributed by Everett-based Triumph Foods, which also does business as Tube Ice. No illnesses have been reported.

Initial tests found fine brown particles and fibrous matter in samples collected after officials received complaints. Further tests are under way to identify the foreign matter.

The recalled ice is packaged in 5-pound plastic bags under the brand names Tube Ice and Carlstad Consumers Ice Company.

The bags were distributed at several retail outlets, including BJ's Wholesale Club, Stone's Retail Market in Abington and Mass. Ave Sunoco Station in Boston.3
