WASHINGTON—Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy is teaming up with cyclist and cancer survivor Lance Armstrong in the push for a new bill to create a more comprehensive approach to fighting the disease.
Kennedy was joined by Armstrong, a seven-time Tour de France winner, and Dr. Edward Benz of Boston's Dana Farber Cancer Institute on Capitol Hill on Thursday to announce legislation he will file soon to encourage more coordination of cancer research, prevention and treatment.
It also would give more money to the National Cancer Institute and other public research agencies.
Kennedy said it was a mistake to emphasize one cancer over another in the search for breakthroughs against the disease.![]()
