BOSTON—A truck went out of control on a busy Boston street, colliding with several vehicles before bursting into flames.

Police said nine vehicles were involved in the accident, which stretched down Commonwealth Avenue on Thursday morning.

Three people, including the driver, were treated for minor injuries.

Police said the truck lost control about 7:20 a.m., hitting a pickup, which spun onto nearby train tracks. It then continued about two blocks up the road, hitting other vehicles before coming to rest and exploding.

Nearby buildings were evacuated on fears the truck was carrying hazardous chemicals, but police spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll said none were found.

The MBTA also shut down trolley service, which was restored by late morning.

Driscoll said the crash's cause is being investigated.
