BOSTON (AP) -- The MBTA is busing morning commuters on a portion of the Green Line after a trolley derailed and caught fire in Boston.
MBTA spokeswoman Lydia Rivera says about 30 passengers were on the outbound train at the time of the 1:30 a.m. accident and all were safely evacuated.
Rivera says the rear trolley on the two-car train jumped the tracks on Commonwealth Avenue in the Brighton neighborhood. The derailment brought down overhead power lines, causing the fire that caused significant damage to the train.
Rivera says the accident is being investigated.
Crews are working to remove the disabled train but officials aren't sure when service would be restored on the "B" branch of the Green Line. Shuttle buses are being used to carry passengers between Boston College and Babcock Street.![]()
