The Friendly Garden Club of Beverly's annual gardening contest will award prizes for Best Window Box - Residential; Best Window Box - Business; Best Flower Garden; and Best Vegetable Garden. Walk to benefit Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society: Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society's 13th annual Strut for Strays 3-mile walk will feature Randy Price as honorary chairman, music by Sunchunk, food, children's games, face painting, and more. Leashed dogs are welcome. Proceeds benefit homeless cats and kittens and support programs caring for cats and kittens in need in the community. Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony and community cookout: A Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony honoring the men and women of the armed forces, will be held May 25, 11 a.m., at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake St. All are invited to participate, and families may contact Puritan to place the name of their loved one on the Veterans Board or to fly a veteran's burial flag along the main boulevard.
